Scribendi is seeking a Senior Editor to manage our growing editorial team in Chatham, Ontario. Only a few hours from the GTA, Chatham offers a city lifestyle on a smaller scale. Scribendi is searching for a driven, experienced editor who is a decisive leader to manage editorial quality throughout the business, which includes not only our team of in-house editors but also our worldwide roster of freelancers. You must be an exceptional editor with sound judgment, have a proven ability to positively influence others, and have strong analytical skills. If you are a talented editorial manager looking to lead a team to new heights, then this is the job for you!

Ideally, you have the following:
A Bachelor's Degree and, preferably, a graduate degree (English, Creative Writing, Publishing, Journalism, Linguistics, or a comparable program)
A minimum of five years of experience in editing, writing, document production, or language teaching
A strong desire to assist others with their growth and development in the editing field
An in-depth knowledge of multiple style guides (APA, MLA, CMOS, etc.)
Experience with developing training programs and ensuring their successful implementation
A successful track record of building and leading teams
A history of creating and maintaining working relationships, being receptive to feedback and input from others, and applying changes quickly and accurately

As the Senior Editor, you will do the following:
Train and mentor in-house editorial staff to improve quality and efficiency
Ensure quality and consistency across the editorial teams by monitoring editors, improving processes, and updating standards
Maintain high quality standards and properly handle confidential data
Manage the quality-assurance function of the company
Evaluate freelance work through quality evaluations
Lead the quality department with a continual eye for improvement
Develop competency-based training in accordance with industry standards
Collaborate on strategic initiatives
Assist with maintaining our ISO processes and certification
